What are the Requirements to Become a CIT?

Is at least 18 years of age and holds a high school diploma or its equivalent

Is not in violation of any ethical standards subscribed to by the ADRA

Is not now, and has not been, a substance abuser or compulsive gambler for a period of 2 years from the date the application is received.

Has not been convinced of, pleaded guilty, or entered a plea of nolo contendere to a felony. The ADRA may waive this requirement for good cause upon request. All applicants shall provide the ADRA with an original state background check.

Must be under the supervision of a Certified Clinical Supervisor.

Must verify and show documentation of the completion of 180 clock hours of substance abuse addiction specific education.

What is required for CIT renewal?

Renewal of your CIT status is ANNUAL. You must submit a completed renewal application with documentation and verification of 20 hours of continuing education specific to substance abuse treatment.

What are the requirements to become a PSIT?

Is at least 18 years of age and holds a high school diploma or its equivalent

Is not in violation of any ethical standards subscribed to by the ADRA

Is not now, and has not been, a substance abuser or compulsive gambler for a period of 2 years from the date the application is received.

What are the requirements to become an ATA?

Is at least 16 years of age

Is a legal resident of the United States

Is not in violation of any ethical standards subscribed to by the ADRA

Is not now, and has not been, a substance abuser or compulsive gambler for a period of six months from the date the application is received

Has not been convinced of, pleaded guilty, or entered a plea of nolo contendere to a felony. The ADRA may waive this requirement for good cause upon request. All applicants shall provide the ADRA with an original state background check.

Documents the completion of 6 hours of professional ethics training

Documents the completion of an approved training in first aid and CPR

What is required for ATA renewal?

ATA’s must renew their status every 2 years. You must submit a completed renewal application with documentation and verification of 6 hours of professional ethics and current first aid and CPR training.
