Gambling Counselor Questions
What are the minimum requirements for the certification application?
Is at least 21 years of age.
Is a legal resident of the United States.
Is not in violation of any ethical standards subscribed to by the department.
Is not and has not been a substance abuser or compulsive gambler during the previous two years from the date the application is received.
Has not been convicted of a felony. However, the department, in its discretion may waive this requirement upon review of the individual’s circumstances.
Possesses and maintains an Addiction Counselor credential or other approved license to practice independently. Any license or certification not issued by the ADRA must be approved by the ADRA.
Successfully completes 30 clock hours of gambling addiction courses from an ADRA approved education program. If not credentialed by the ADRA there must be documented an additional 60 hours specific to substance abuse treatment education.
